What Does It Mean to be Baptist?
What does it mean to be a Baptist? In a day when denominations are in rapid decline, does it even matter anymore? Aren’t we all just Christians making all other labels just useless divisions?
Ever heard that old phrase “don’t drink, smoke, or chew, or go with girls who do?” Is this what it means to be Baptist? Is it a sin for Baptists to dance or play cards or have a drink? Do Baptists always have to sit on the back row/pew? Are potlucks the defining characteristic of a Baptist Church? Was John the Baptist the first Baptist?
Surely, this is not what it means to be Baptist. In this 5 week class we’ll take a look at Baptist roots and the defining marks of what it means to be a Baptist.
